Simple Church isn’t trending
A brief thought on why the Simple Church sticks.
All that has happened has been, and all that has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecc. 1:9
While this verse might sound pessimistic at first glance, in light of the human experience, it may also offer us hope as we live as disciples of Christ.
God has seen the Church ebb and flow over the great course of time.
Through sin, persecution, and transformation…
Over eons, centuries, and generations…
God is faithful.
The Church, founded on God’s faithfulness, centers on one all-encompassing relationship with our Christ Jesus.
And when we talk about Simple Church, it may be new to some, but it certainly isn’t new to God.
Simplifying the Chuch experience is about bringing it all back to the basics
… The ancient foundational beginnings.
Simple Church is not a trend or a phase in the Christian community.
Whether it’s called House Church, Micro-Church, or Small Group, the desire to simplify is always at the heart of exploring the fundamentals of our faith.
Simple Church is a historical practice of gathering with other believers in community to worship, share mission, resources, and God’s love.
And it is an essential expression for the modern time we’re living in.
Our promise in Christ is that even when life surprises us, it will never surprise Him.
Yes, history may repeat itself, as scripture suggests; there is nothing new under the sun.
The popularity of the Simple Church movement may just be an indication of a more profound transformation within each of our hearts.
And again, it repeats: God’s faithfulness, a rhythm of grace in our time, circulating in and out like the breath in our lungs.
Stay curious in the Holy Spirit and the ancient movement he is calling you toward.
God is bringing renewal and transformation to each of us and the beloved global Church.
And that, too, is a promise.
